Add Lib is a boutique casting agency specialising in Simulated Patients and Role Players. We are Queensland based with nationwide services. 

What is a Simulated Patient?   Also known as a Standardised Patient or SP, they are actors trained to portray a real patient, relative or healthcare professional in a realistic way, to assist with the education of health group students.

What is a Role Player?  In an educational setting, a Role Player, or RP is someone trained  to portray various characters, emotions or personalities to assist with training of interpersonal situations including leadership, management, conflict resolution and mediation training.

Why use Professional Simulated Patients and Role Players (SP/RPs) instead of role playing with peers? We find that role playing with peers is more daunting for learners because they are very familiar with each other. Peers do not always take a role play seriously and can easily slip into workplace jargon. Professional SP/RPs can portray heightened emotional states more convincingly than most workplace colleagues. The detachment the learner has for the SP/RP assists greatly with the level of professionalism of the scenario.  Clients can then utilise SP/RPs for later assessments without the learners feeling anxious about working with an 'actor' for the first time. All SP/RPs are trained to give accurate and concise feedback to the learner and the assessor if requested.
